INTERVIEWER NOTES
Given her high profile and industriousness on behalf of the community, Carol was always an obvious choice for inclusion in the project. On top of that, she is thoroughgoing in her oral history (as her two memoirs will attest) and a wonderful visual storyteller — particularly indelible here are her memories of growing up in Jamaica and working in the family’s shop (which doubled as a cinema) when she was a child.
It should also be noted that, like a few other participating narrators, Carol was part of the original working group assembled by Ray Chen to discuss the possibility of an oral history project in 2015.
